Personal Care Demand Planning

The Problem

This Eastern European retailer sells personal care, cleaning products, cosmetics, perfume and jewelry, with a range of more than 350,000 SKUs. Its goal was to become the leading health, beauty and household retailer in its markets.

The business was losing margin to write-offs on expired stock, ordering errors and a replenishment process that needed too much manual work. Promotions made this harder: without a reliable forecast for promoted items, stores ran out of some lines and sat on too much of others.

Results

The retailer implemented Dataviva Demand Forecasting and Supply Chain Planning as a hands-off, automated flow. Better forecasts for both promoted and regular items, and fewer out-of-stocks, raised revenue, margins and sell-through, and cut losses from expiry and ordering errors.

The next goal, with Dataviva Pricing & Promotions, is to get more from each promotion, freeing planners from routine work so they can spend their time on analysis.

  • Store overstocks −13–15%
  • Warehouse overstocks −75%
  • Planner efficiency +50%
