Cruise Retail Supply Chain
The Problem
Harding+ is the world’s largest cruise retailer. It partners with 17 cruise line operators and runs 300+ shops, covering 17,000 m², on 90+ ships. Its stores handle 4.4 million transactions a year.
The stores move. Each ship has its own assortment and its own itinerary, with different passengers and different resupply options at every port. Harding+ needed forecasting and replenishment that could plan against a fleet in constant motion, without over-ordering into storage space it does not have, or under-ordering into stockouts that guests notice at once.
Results
Harding+ and Dataviva went live in 14 months with Dataviva Demand Forecasting and Supply Chain Planning, a first for the cruise industry. Demand pattern recognition and automated replenishment now plan against the real movements of the fleet, and the merchandising team no longer spends its time on manual replenishment.
In 2025, about 70% of the Harding+ portfolio was managed through Dataviva. Out-of-stocks on key product lines fell by 60%, while inventory value held steady or improved. Fewer emergency shipments also mean less use of costly, high-emission airfreight.
- Out-of-stocks on key product lines −60%
- Portfolio managed through Dataviva ~70%
- Inventory value Held steady or improved
- Time to go-live 14 months
“This has been a pioneering partnership. Great theory supported by strong results. Long term strategy of improvement matched with everyday tangibility for our teams. Sustainable wins from smarter planning, consistently stocked shelves, and an ability to confidently make the best decisions knowing they are backed up by live and actionable data.”
